Good to know
For general purpose applications, cotton thermal gloves serve as an ideal option for comfort and breathability. However, they are also useful for abrasion and heat protection, keeping items as well as hands safe from hazards.
Heat-resistant terrycloth gloves are manufactured with cut-and-sewn fabric constructed with insulating loops. The terry loop design provides tiny air pockets to insulate hands from heat. This design feature affords the gloves more dexterity than woven or leather variants.
Since terry is also highly cut-resistant, these thermal gloves also protect the wearer against rough, sharp metal objects. Some types are made with Kevlar to make it withstand the effects of direct flame while further enhancing cut resistance.
When selecting heat-resistant gloves, individuals should consider several factors. Aside from the temperature present in the work environment, other factors include whether the heat is moist or dry; if the exposure type is thermal or atmospheric; and whether open flames or sparks can be expected.
Terrycloth gloves may also serve as an alternative to hot mill gloves for certain tasks.
