Work Platforms: Buying Guide

Ladders can be incredibly useful in the workplace, but when you and your team are working for extended periods at elevated heights, platforms will often provide the safest solution. Access platforms can be employed for a variety of tasks. For example, when staff are performing regular maintenance checks above a comfortable height and need access to their tools when doing so.

A large scale unit such as the easy slope platform is perfect for accessing stock or archive paperwork stored at height, but can also be used when overhead work is being undertaken. Certain high level duties can be risky if carried out with a ladder, as workers sometimes find themselves with a need to bend backwards to reach the task. With an access platform, this can instead be completed quickly, comfortably and with minimal risk.

Smaller platforms will be useful in areas where many people are occupying the same space and there is no room to use a ladder safely. From schools and shops to hotels and hospitals, many buildings routinely make this type of platform a part of their workplace equipment. Hop up platforms can hold up to 150kg, yet use up minimal space and keep workers surefooted even when performing heavy duty tasks.

One of the safest ways to work at any significant height is on a work platform, and when choosing the right one for your company you will need to consider the tasks to be undertaken and how high off the ground your employees need to be. An adjustable option such as the telescopic platform will offer the ultimate in flexibility. It can be moved around your facility with a minimum of effort and gives plenty of extra work space.

Our foldaway podium is designed for use in many types of industry and on all sorts of projects. It is ideal for outdoor work but can also be assembled indoors when necessary. Whether you are cleaning, working with electrics or painting and decorating, this steady, reliable platform won’t let you down.

For occasions when a smaller option is required, Seton can also supply a selection of safety steps and stools. These provide a quick and easy alternative to work platforms, but offer more stability than leaning ladders.
