First aid kits come in all shapes and sizes, designed to treat incidents and injuries from all walks of life - from around the home and the school playground to the workplace and even mountain rescue operations. Choosing the best will be dictated by how prepared you need to be. How much medical equipment do you need to meet legal requirements and avoid falling short in an emergency?

Seton offers a fully comprehensive solution - our Major Incident First Aid Kit is perfect for bigger businesses with high volumes of staff, visitors or customers, such as hotels. The large, box style, brightly coloured holdall features both carry handles and a shoulder strap. The many compartments host its specially selected, and expansive, range of equipment - including foil blankets, tourniquets, forceps and stethoscope alongside the expected dressings, burn gels, and plasters. This product has everything needed to handle major trauma and emergency evacuations.

A common concern, particularly with larger first aid packs is a comfortable way to carry all that is needed. Seton understands this pain; which is why our British Standard Rucksack First Aid Kit offers a complete medical first aid product in an easy to carry backpack, fitted with twin shoulder straps and a carry handle offering a versatile way to get necessities to the site of an incident. Accessories like reflective strips ensure high visibility day or night, while colour-coded zippered pouches (red, blue, yellow and green) mean you can quickly find exactly what you need. Don’t need all the kit? We also supply this as an empty first aid bag - zipper pouches included.

For smaller operations, such as schools, construction sites, catering settings and events, there's the British Standard Compliant Grab Bag First Aid Kit and Bum Bag First Aid Kit. Each of these kits are designed to be lightweight, containing essential first aid items for minor ailments, such as cuts, knocks and burns. Perfect for quick and effective medical treatment from first responders to an incident.

Specialists in workplace safety, it will come as no surprise that Seton offers a range of specially composed first aid kits. For instance our Burns First Aid Kit is supplied in a handy carry bag. Ideal for catering and kitchen environments where burns injuries are more common.

Many of our first aid containers feature a ‘First Aid’ and the white cross signs across the outer surface, to quickly identify the contents amongst other equipment.

Which type of first aid bag is best?

The answer to which is best, really depends on where and when first aid support is required. For example our School Trip First Aid Kit is supplied in an easy to carry and access rucksack. Perfect for school trips or excursions with Cubs/Scouts and Brownies/Guides groups thanks to the compact design. Featuring twin padded shoulder straps, this backpack keeps hands-free and helps distribute the load evenly across the wearer’s back.

Alternatively our Bum Bag First Aid Kit or First Aid Bum Bag features a quick-release belt system. Wearing the pouch style bag around the hips means essential first aid products and accessories are rapidly available in a medical emergency.

Many of our smallest kits, such as the Burns First Aid Kit, and Critical Injury First Aid Kit are equipped for specialist purposes and provided in a waterproof pouch with an ergonomic black handle. Similarly the Bleeding Control Kit is supplied in a black foil laminated pouch. This compact style allows for easy inclusion as accessories in bigger first aid packs or as grab bags in their own right; ideal at the first signs of an accident, when you don’t have time to be fitting a belt or shoulder strap arrangement.

Are First Aid Bags Waterproof?

Unfortunately not, but they don’t need to be. When we talk about waterproof bags we’re usually referring to those that can be fully submerged in water without allowing in any moisture. Not many first aid treatments take place underwater.

We all know accidents don’t always happen at convenient times, or indeed in good weather. Which is why many, from the Major Incident First Aid Kit to our First Aid Bum Bag are water-resistant. A water-resistant bag is perfect for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and moderate size sport events, such as amateur football matches or any outdoor workplace, such as a construction site.

By definition, ‘water-resistant’ means there is a level of water repellency in the material of the bag that covers almost all circumstances where first aid is required.

Can I purchase a first aid bag only without any supplies?

The short answer to this question is yes, absolutely. Perhaps you need a specific set of supplies that isn’t included in our pre-stocked first aid bag kits, or if you need accessories for your home or workplace, just in case; Seton can quickly supply a range of empty first aid bags, at a price to suit your budget.

From the small and compact pouch style First Aid Bum Bag to the larger Empty First Aid Bag and Empty British Standard First Aid Rucksack you can pack as much, or as little, as required for your needs.

What should be inside the first aid bag?

You might be asking yourself this question and, it is likely, the answers you are finding online are a little confusing. What do you really need in an emergency?
