What is Thermoplastic Line Marking?

Thermoplastic line marking is carried out with either thermoplastic paint, floor marking paint, or floor marking tape. Thermoplastic products have numerous advantages over cement-based paint.
Thermoplastic line marking supplies are environmentally safe and friendly. It is a compound that contains binders, pigments, fillers and glass beads. Thermoplastic line marking equipment, such as blow pipes, are used to heat the thermoplastic agent as it is being applied to the asphalt. The heating and cooling chemical reactions ensure that the marking bonds to the surface.

The Benefits of Thermoplastic Line Marking

Small glass particles give a road or pavement marking its reflective quality. Thermoplastic line marking tape and other products are not only dusted with reflective beads, but these glass particles are premixed into the products. This enhances the lifespan and visibility of the reflective quality of the road or pavement marking. Thermoplastic line marking bonds better with intended surfaces and are slightly raised. These product traits ensure longer product life than normal paint markings. The fact that thermoplastic line markings are raised not only extends the product’s lifespan, but also provides a better grip for road traffic.

Is Thermoplastic Paint Better Than Conventional Floor Marking Paints?

The HSE has emphasised that vehicle traffic routes must be marked to enforce health and safety requirements. The visibillity of floor markings are an essential part of this policy. Regular floor marking paint, such as cement-based paint, fades faster than thermosplastic line marking paint.
