Good to know

Elastane is a synthetic fibre that’s well known for its superior elastic properties. Also known as spandex, elastan, and elasthanne in other parts of the world, elastane is also known by its brand name, Lycra. While not as strong as natural latex (the material to which elastane is compared), the material is nevertheless strong enough to have found use in a number of industrial applications.

When used as a component of cut-resistant sleeves, like the Polyco Hexarmor Arm Guard, the material allows a better fit. This is due to elastane’s ability to return to its original shape after stretching. Being synthetic, another benefit elastane has over natural latex is the material is hypoallergenic.
