What does the law say?

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) makes it clear that it is an employer's responsibility to ensure their employees and site visitors are protected from risk of injury. A common practice in meeting this requirement is to have a fully stocked emergency first response bag on site.

But how does this relate, you might ask? If you manage facilities such as a gym or a sports club-house/playing fields, you have the same duty of care to any employees, customers, spectators, or volunteers on the premises; so it is important to have one or more fully stocked sport first aid kits available.

While amateur teams are not quite so strictly regulated by law, the HSE provides guidance, and even a checklist, for amateur clubs; when it comes to maintaining their health and safety operations.

Ensuring that club team members, spectators, volunteers and players are prepared for the inevitable sporting accidents becomes even more important when it comes to youth sports, such as youth football. Any parent will tell you children are particularly susceptible to injury when playing sports, particularly when it gets hot. All of our sports first aid packages are suitable for youth sports.
