Wound Care Expert Advice
As a first aider or personnel responsible for the first aid equipment, you do not always need to replenish all your first aid stock. Some items are used more than others. In offices for example plasters are more likely to be used than a burn dressing. At Seton we provide the individual products so you can buy for your workplaces’ requirements.
According to the HSE there were 71,062 employee non-fatal injuries reported by employers in 2017/2018, highlighting the importance of medical supplies within a workplace. Have you got sufficient wound care to treat all minor injuries that could occur?
Our Top 10 Wound Care Products:
1) Pink Washproof PlasterOffices, shops and many more need plasters on the premises and our low allergy, washproof plasters are ideal. They are soft and flexible making them easy to apply to a cut. Can be purchased in a variety of pack sizes.
2) Blue Catering Plasters
Perfect for environments where you handle food and all healthcare areas including doctor surgeries and dentists. The plasters are easily identifiable due to their colour and they also contain a metal detectable strip. Available in a variety of pack sizes.
3) Wound Dressings
High quality, non-adhesive dressing suitable for all workplaces and compliant to HSE standards. The sterile dressing is complete with a stretch bandage ensuring comfort and protection of the wound. Supplied in medium, large and extra large.
4) Adhesive Dressings
Optimal for all working environments. The adhesive dressing is highly absorbent and is made from breathable fabric that is low allergenic. Available in packs of 50 in two sizes.
5) Microporous Tape
All working environments need microporous tape which works seamlessly to attach dressings to the wounded person. Easily torn with hands so scissors are not needed to apply and can be used on all skin types.
6) Eye Dressings
Some areas are harder to dress like the eye area so an eye dressing can be used. Useful to have in all working environments, especially in manufacturing where machinery is used. It can be easily applied and is comfortable for the patient. Supplied in packs of 10.
7) Finger Buddies
Can be used in catering environments due to a blue option being available as well as a white option which is ideal for all work environments. Specifically designed for use on fingers and they are pre-rolled allowing for easy application. No other equipment is needed to protect the wound on the finger. Supplied in a pack of 10 in sizes medium and large.
8) Wound Closure Strips
A useful medical disposal that can be used in all workplaces. The wound closure strips are used to close small cuts which reduces the chance of the wound re-opening. They are flexible and stay securely in place. Can be bought in a pack of 50.

Extremely useful for higher risk environments or if you have a large workforce. The assortment of bandages ensures that there is the correct treatment for many different situations. Fastening pins are included in the pack.

How to dress a wound?*
As instructed by the NHS, here is the step-by-step guide on dressing a wound:1) Wash hands thoroughly and wear disposable gloves
2) Ensure the patient is sitting or lying down
3) Tell the person you are about to apply a dressing to the wound
4) Apply pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding & raise the arm/leg if this is the area affected
5) Once the bleeding has stopped, use a dressing slightly bigger than the affected area, to place carefully over the injury to protect it
*Always seek medical advice if unsure of which medical equipment to use when dressing a wound or if you have any queries.
