Wall Mounted Cigarette Bin Buying Guide

There are a number of advantages to this type of bin over others. The first is that they fit neatly to the wall so they don’t get in the way. The compact design means that they do not stick out too far from the wall and as the main part of the bin is locked, the contents will not spill out onto the floor, unless, of course, they are not regularly emptied. The locked compartment makes them easy to empty and if this is done regularly it ensures there is little risk of a fire from cigarette ends that have not been fully extinguished.

If you opt for a free standing cigarette bin, you need to place it somewhere where everyone can see it. If you have a much more obvious designated smoking area, then it is not ideal if you prefer that it was a little more discreet. The free standing units also require more maintenance, but they are a good option if the number of workers in your building who smoke is higher than the average workplace.

Another advantage to the wall-mounted cigarette bins is that they are easily fitted into place and will not move around. Apart from emptying, they need very little maintenance, just the occasional clean and a check to make sure that they are not rusting. Replacing the units will only have to be done after several years and even then only if they have not been properly cared for.

The wall-mounted units come in a range of designs and from a distance they simply resemble external post boxes that some people might choose to have outside their home. They are safe and clean and have a galvanised metal liner. Available in a range of styles and colours, the units can be chosen to blend in with the exterior of the building or they can be chosen to stand out, making it easier for people to see where they are. This is a good idea if you have found that staff don’t try too hard to find them and are happy to leave cigarette ends where they stand.

For most workplaces, one of the wall-mounted cigarette bins is enough. As many people have chosen to give up smoking in the wake of the smoking ban, there are fewer people in each workplace that need to take the usual cigarette break. However, if yours is a larger organisation with several hundred workers, you might find a much higher proportion want to have a cigarette from time to time. In this case it is worth having three or four of the wall-mounted units in a smoking shelter to encourage staff to dispose of cigarette ends properly.
