Hoses & Adapters

Need help? Need help? More information on Hoses & Adapters If you need a hosepipe, or indeed several, it is important to make sure that the equipment you buy is of good quality and to the right specification. Consider the type of hosepipe you require, as well as any fittings you need, before making the final decision and placing an order.

There are several reasons why a business might need to have a hosepipe available for use on the premises. It could be used by grounds maintenance staff or for health and safety reasons in workplaces such as laboratories. The type of tasks you intend to use it for can also help you make sure that you minimise any potential safety issues.

Choosing Your Hose

Whatever you need it for, a strong hosepipe is a must. A hose with a 2mm wall thickness is a good option and PVC Hosepipes have a polyester yarn for reinforcement, helping to prevent those annoying kinks that can interrupt their use.

This type of hose has a 12mm diameter, but there are also heavy-duty versions with thicker sheathing on the external layer so that they better withstand wear and tear. This type of hosepipe is designed for commercial use rather than domestic, and it is made from top quality PVC. The hosepipes are also designed to offer better flexibility than most standard hosepipes, even when they are being used in very low temperatures.

Our hosepipes comply to all the relevant safety and manufacturing standards. They have a minimum burst pressure of 40 bar when being used at 20°C. You can also choose the exact length that you need.

Hosepipe Usage

Choosing a suitable hosepipe and fittings for use at your workplace is easy if you know exactly what it is going to be used for. It could be that you need one to hose down a workshop floor if there is a spillage, or to hose down large-scale equipment such as industrial plant

There are other factors that you might need to take into consideration when you are selecting a hosepipe for the workplace. Think about the person that is going to be using it and what they are using it for. Will they need to have additional training to maximise the benefits of its use in certain environments, especially those subject to contamination? Depending upon the task to be completed, it may be necessary to ensure that users are aware of any health and safety implications.

For example, is the hose being used simply as part of the process to keep company vehicles clean? Look at the area where it is being used. How far will it need to stretch? How big are the vehicles? How much power will be needed? Is an ordinary hosepipe more suited to the task than a pressure washer? The answers to all of these questions will help you to decide if you are ordering the right items.

Safety Issues

The health and safety implications of having hosepipes around the workplace should also be taken into consideration.

Water spillages can cause problems in terms of slips and falls and the relevant signage, such as our Wet Floor Signs, should be in place to warn people of the possible risks. You might also want to check out our great range of Spill Control products to make sure you have all bases covered.

If the hosepipes are kept in order to assist with other safety issues, such as helping if risky substances are spilled, adequate Safety Signage should be in place to show where they are stored.
