Buy your labels now!

As from August 13th 2005, all electrical and electronic equipment put on the market in the EU has to be labelled to conform to the WEEE Directive (Waste in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive 2002/96/EC.

EN 50419 defines the specifications of the marking requirements to comply with the directive. Brady had developed a label that meets this regulation.

These polyester labels, available in several sizes, have a very high resistance to chemicals, ultra-violet rays and extreme weather conditions. Once applied, they will stay in place and readable for the whole life cycle of the equipment.

The WEEE Directive aims to raise the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and encourages designers to create products with recycling in mind. The RoHS legislation (a complimentary legislation) supports this by reducing the amount of hazardous substances used in production.

Which products does this effect?

You can be pretty sure that any item requiring power or containing a PCB is affected by this legislation.

Who does this effect?

All producers who manufacture, Import, Export or Distribute to the EU.

What is required?

The above will need to label every single product with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol (as below).
