Security of our Website

Security of your payments and privacy of your data

Our team works in collaboration with specialised partners to ensure the privacy of your personal or business data. Your purchases on seton.co.uk are therefore 100% secure with our security and payment control systems.

At Seton, your safety is our top priority

Your payment does not pass through any server. Our banking partner is the only one to receive the encrypted data. There is no risk, therefore, of losing your credit card information. This data is encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol.

Seton adopted the SSL TLS 1.2 protocol for encrypting the payment transactions of its customers in order to render any attempts at data interception ineffective.

The mission of the PCI Security Standards Council is to improve the security of payment accounts. This organisation was founded by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Financial Services and JCB International. The PCI DSS standard lists all the control points related to information systems that capture, transport, store and process credit card data. This certification is particularly difficult to obtain and requires great rigour and a high level of protection of banking information! This compliance must be checked annually by means of technical tests to validate that the site is well protected.

Steps to follow to ensure your data is fully protected

Secure your password

In order to fully optimise the security of your account, we recommend that you choose a secure password. It must be complex enough to prevent it being discovered too easily. Avoid, for example, using your name, date of birth or a derivative of your username.

Here are some tips to ensure the maximum security of your password:

  • A minimum of 10 characters.
  • Use different types of character (upper case, lower case, numbers).
  • Use special characters (% ! * $).
  • Do not use the same password for different logins.
  • Do not configure your browser to retain your passwords.

Your Seton password will never be requested by one of our advisers, whether by mail or by telephone. Be sure to also change your password regularly.

Protect your computer

It is important to connect using a trusted computer. Make sure that your computer is equipped with antivirus software and that this is updated regularly. We also recommend that you use a firewall. If you use a computer that is not your own, or a public computer, be sure to log out when you finish browsing.

Beware of phishing

Phishing is a technique that aims to make the victim believe that they are communicating with a particular company such as Seton, or even their own bank, in order to obtain personal information. The objective is usually to steal your password or your credit card number.

It usually takes the form of a fake website. Phishing is usually done by email, the link indicated taking you to site that strongly resembles the original site and leading you to provide your confidential information. Hackers can then use your information and your credit card.
