What the Expert Says

The Cost Effective Way to Ensure Employees Get Noticed
Printed Hi-Vis Waistcoats are a great way to ensure employees are recognised and seen whilst performing their important duties. Large pre-printed lettering, bright orange or yellow colouring and 4 reflective bands make these waistcoats highly visible, even in low light conditions and a great safety investment for any business.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that organisations should assign competent persons to assist with fire safety duties, usually designated as either fire wardens or fire marshals. These duties include helping out during evacuations, checking safety equipment and monitoring fire safety standards within the workplace.

Essentially, there is no difference between the two roles, fire wardens and fire marshals’ duties are the same. If, however, an organisation appoints both, a fire warden will be responsible for day to day fire safety duties like the aforementioned safety equipment checking while fire marshals will be responsible with tasks during an actual emergency.

Please remember that both wardens and marshals should receive proper training and be equipped with the proper hi vis vests or safety workwear.
