Good to know

Welding gloves are hand protection equipment meant to keep the wearer safe from the safety hazards posed by welding processes. These gloves are manufactured with special attention given to their design considering the proximity of the gloves to the welding process.

Welder’s gloves are meant to provide digit flexibility, allowing users to work while protecting them from extreme heat, electrical shock, and ultraviolet and infrared radiation, as well as providing abrasion resistance and enhanced grip.

Gloves are made with separate sheaths for every finger and thumb.

Workers typically wear them along with other safety equipment (such as faceshields and aprons) that comprise a welding ensemble.
Over time, these gloves may dry out due to continuous exposure to high heat.

One of most typical points of wear on the glove is the along the area of the wrist where welders grasp and press against the weld gun. To delay this glove failure, well-designed gloves are often reinforced with additional leather on the thumb and index finger, as well as related areas on the glove.
