A defibrillator is a life-saving machine that gives the heart an electric shock in some cases of cardiac arrest. Also known as automated external defibrillators (AEDs), Defibrillators can mean that difference between life and death and depending on your place of work, it can be mandatory to possess one. It’s not just places of work and health and safety laws that encourage the use of defibrillators; with instances requiring a defibrillator such as a heart attack being so common, even local campaigns are being pushed to put defibrillators into more public places across the country, with the argument being hundreds of lives could be saved each year if they were more publicly owned in the likes of swimming pools, offices parks and schools.
